The international Women’s Day has been celebrated since over 100 years. It has a two fold message which is to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day is also used to mark a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It is a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights and violence against women.
On this special day, Clasam children in both the primary and the Academy gathered together in the School Hall and presented a very entertaining, informative and at the same time educative Playlet about the importance of women in our society. The occasion was also used as an avenue to educate the female child on being aware of who they are, to hold themselves in high esteem wherever they may find themselves. The boys on the other hand were taught to respect and honour women wherever they may find themselves.
