The World Book Day

This is observed all over the world to promote reading and love for books, publishing and copyright awareness. As the saying goes “Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn, this is because the love of reading is gradually fading away and in the society today people are getting lazy to read.

The goal of The World Book Day is to engage people in reading and even have fun as they do so.

In Clasam School, we celebrate the World Book Day this year by asking our pupils to come to school with any book of interest, pick a comfortable spot of their choice which includes the lobby, Garden/play ground, corridor, staircase, assembly ground etc and read. After reading for a few minutes, a number of them were called to share what they’ve read with the rest of the school. Also there was an interesting drama presentation on the importance of reading by the children. It was really fun for learners and teachers alike, while at the same time a reading culture is being developed in the children.
They were encouraged to not allow the fun to stop there, to continue reading at every opportunity that presents itself to them so as to sharpen their intellect and broaden their knowledge.
